What a way to go into Homecoming weekend.
The Howe Bulldogs got another masterful passing performance from Chase Fountaine as they won their third game of the season Friday, beating Valley View on the road, 21-12.
Fountaine had three touchdown tosses in the contest with the big gainer coming on a 72-yard play to Alex Torres.
Torres has caught at least one touchdown pass in each of the Bulldogs first three games of the year. Fountaine has seven TD throws for 2010.
The Bulldogs got on the board in the second quarter with the long bomb to Torres lighting up the scoreboard.
Scott Kannenberg booted home the first of three successful point-after kicks. Kannenberg will be taking a streak of 10 successful kicks into the Wolfe City contest.
Tim Butler scored on an eight-yard Fountaine pass to get Howe a 14-0 lead at the half. That catch capped a drive that was keyed by a 67-yard pass by Fountaine to Torres.
Butler finished the night with 83 yards rushing to lead the Bulldogs and Towner Bailey was the workhorse in the backfield, getting 23 carries for 80 yards.
Valley View mounted a comeback in the third period as Scott Willis capped an Eagle drive with a 15-yard scoring run.
Howe had an answer for that challenge as Fountaine hooked up with Garrette Griffin on a 33-yard pass play that pushed the lead back to 15 as they went to the final period.
The Eagles' Sammy Ponce got free for a 76-yard dash with just under 10 seconds left in the game to make it interesting.
Chance Copeland led the Bulldog defense with 10 tackles and Casey Davis added six.
Homecoming festivities tonight, prior to the 7:30 kickoff as the 2010 queen will be crowned.
