Ask the Chief 111909
Ask the Chief of the Anna Police: A weekly column allowing readers access to useful information about law enforcement issues in the Anna area.
Each week the chief receives requests for information from people in the Anna area. This column is the personal opinion of Kenny Jenks and is based on his 28+ years of policing experience. It is not necessarily the official opinion of the City of Anna or the Anna Police Department.
Dear Chief Jenks,
Where are the walking trails in Anna?
Deborah, Anna
Hello Deborah,
One trail is part of the Natural Springs Park (directly behind the Brookshire's on F.M. 455). If you park in the south parking area of Brookshire's there is a bridge to the south that you can take to access the trail.
Another is part of the Slayter Creek Park (off Rosamond Parkway north of Anna High School). If you park in the gravel parking lot, you can access the trail on the right side of the pavilion. Enjoy!
Chief Jenks,
I know you are from Killeen/Fort Hood and I wanted to know if you could tell us any details about the mass shooting incident at Fort Hood? Thank you.
Duane, Melissa
Hi Duane,
Nothing officially I can say. I am from the Fort Hood area, and I retired from the Killeen Police Department in 2002. I have family members that still live in Killeen and my daughter is going to Central Texas College (about 2 miles from the shooting location). There are still many friends and former co-workers who had to respond. Keep them in your prayers as I do!
For the second time in my adult life, mass murder has hit my hometown. You may recall that in 1991 an idiot killed 22 people at the Luby's Cafeteria in Killeen. Now in 2009, that same community is dealing with the aftermath of the actions of a traitor to our country. What a very sad day for the good guys.
