Anna PD Gets New Technology

By Ken Gaidziunas

Staff Writer

"The grant money continues to be put to use," said Anna PD Sgt. Jeff Caponera as he talked about the latest technology updates in the department.

"April 22 will be the implementation date of our new ticket writers," said Caponera. They basically are automated citation books which will help officers document accidents, interviews as well as simple Class C tickets.

The mobile data computers for patrol cars will be in use later this month, according to Caponera. "They will keep officers on the street to do reports, instead of returning to the office," explained Caponera. Also, officers will receive calls through their computers, rather than dispatch, getting them on the scene faster.

The crime scene vehicle has been purchased and all lab equipment has been ordered. "We will be able to process evidence in a more timely fashion," added Caponera.
