"The month is not slowing down, with grass fires continuing to be a big part of our calls," said Anna FD interim chief Danny Newton.

On Tuesday the department was called out on two separate grass fires, both on CR 371.

The first, on the south side of CR 371 had 8 bales of hay on fire, and the second, just a quarter mile away, was on the north side with 2 more bales on fire.

Also on Tuesday, the department responded to a vehicle fire on CR 472.

On Saturday there was another grass fire, again on CR 371, with a number of hay bales burning. "This fire may have been deliberately set," said Newton. The fire is still under investigation.

And last Thursday there was a small grass fire on FM 2862 and CR 427.
