U.S. Highway 75 frontage roads in Plano to be closed for construction
PLANO -- Weather permitting, the Texas Department of Transportation will close the U.S. Highway 75 frontage roads at Parker Road in Plano from 10:30 p.m. Wednesday through 6 a.m. Thursday morning. TxDOT Spokesman Mark Pettit said they will be attempting to reopen the road ahead of the Thursday morning commute traffic rush.
Then, between 10:30 p.m. Thursday and 6 a.m. Friday, the roads will close again.
Pettit said the closures are necessary to ensure the safety of the traveling public, as well as the contractor, while beams are hung on the center section of the new Parker Road bridge.
This work is part of a $20 million construction project to convert the U.S. 75 and Parker Road interchange from a standard, grade-separated bridge to a single-point urban interchange.
Message boards announcing the lane closures have been placed along U.S. 75 to notify drivers of the closures. Law enforcement will also be present to help with traffic control.
The estimated project completion is in the fall of 2010. TxDOT is working with contractor W.W. Webber, LLC on the changes.
