Prosper Classic Due this Week

The Howe Lady Bulldogs and Van Alstyne Lady Panthers will be competing in the 2010 North Texas Volleyball Classic in Prosper this weekend and the Howe team has drawn the toughest pool in the tournament.
Howe opens play today at noon against the host team and the Prosper Lady Eagles are heavily favored to win the event. They will play in the Prosper Arena, the first class facility that is the home court for Prosper court sports.
Coach Jolene Vinson has a veteran team back this season after winning District 9-3A last year and advancing to the regional semifinals.
Aubrey has a talented and athletic team. The Lady Chaps were a state finalist team last year, losing to Poth in the championship game. The team lost its home opener to Van Alstyne last Friday.North Hills Preparatory School rounds out Pool A.
Howe will play Aubrey at 3:00 and North Hills at 4:00 to complete pool play on Friday.
Van Alstyne will be in Pool D and they have a 1:00PM game against Melissa.The Lady Cardinals lost to Pottsboro in the regional quarterfinals last season and they extended that Aubrey team to five games in their season opener.
After playing Melissa the Lady Panthers go up against Gunter in a 3:00 game. The Lady Tigers won their district last season and return the leagues MVP Joey Bailey as their big offensive threat.
In the pool finale the Lady Panthers will play Brewer, a class 4-A, Ft.Worth area school. That best-of-three match is scheduled for a 5:00PM start.
Bracket play will be scheduled for Saturday and a team's record in pool action will determine its seed for that day.
