Jones Finishes First in Shotput

<p>VA's Shane Jones brought home a first place finish in shot put from the USATF South Zone Indoor Championship.  The indoor track meet, held at Carl Maddox Field House on the LSU campus in Baton Rouge, LA on February 13th, attracted athletes from AL, FL, GA, NC, SC, TX, VA, MS, LA, KY and TN.  Competing in the 17-18 year old age group, Jones led the pack with a personal best of 54'9", then went on to improve that distance with a new personal best and his winning throw of 55'4".  His championship finish in the track meet qualifies Jones to compete in both the National Scholastic Sports Federation Nike Indoor Track Meet in Boston, MA in  March and  the National Scholastic Indoor Championships  held in New York, also in March.</p>
