Last Saturday's Child ID Fair was "awesome," said Anna PD Sgt. Jeff Caponera. "We had 160 kids, not a drop of food left. We even had some kids from Allen, Celina, Van Alstyne, Westminster. It was a big success."

Children were fingerprinted and photographed and received ID cards. The information is now stored in the Anna PD database and will be a big help to the department in locating a missing child.

Caponera said that there were some early computer problems, where people had to wait longer than anticipated. "We certainly appreciate everyone's patience," he said.

School started on Monday. Anna PD cautions area drivers to pay attention to school zone speed limits (20 or 25 mph depending on location) and to be aware of the cell phone ban in school zones. While the PD issued cell phone warnings last year, "we will be writing citations now," said Caponera.

"We will make all attempts to be visible in school zones, however calls for assistance come first," explained Caponera. "Since the school hours at our four schools are about the same, it makes it difficult to be at all schools at the same time."

And for those who were wondering what role Anna PD played in the Patrick Sharp investigation, Caponera said that "our crime scene unit helped process his house in Anna after the search warrant was executed."

A report released last week said 47 boxes of ammunition, 10 rifles, one handgun and two 9mm clips with ammunition were removed from the home.

Authorities also took items including a computer tower, assorted personal writings and pages printed from the internet.
