Dorchester car accident leaves 1 dead

<p>A Gunter man, Richard Knight, died in a Tuesday evening crash between his motorcycle and a pickup on FM 902 west of Dorchester.

<p>Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Mark Tackett said that Mr. Knight was riding a 2003 Harley Davidson west when, at 4:50 p.m., he entered a curve near the Ranger Creek Road intersection. At the same time, L.W. Buck of Melissa, moving east in a 2004 Dodge pickup, entered the same curve, a right-hand curve for him. Tackett said that the pickup crossed over the center line. He braked and took evasive action to the left. Mr. Knight also braked and the motorcycle struck the passenger side of the pickup.

<p>First responders from several agencies, including Howe, Collinsville and Gunter, arrived to help, and Texas Vital Care transported Mr. Knight to Texas Health Presbyterian-WNJ in Sherman, where Dr. Trisha Dipprey pronounced him dead. Mr. Knight was 49 years old.</p>
